First Line: I hate first Friday. It makes the village crowded, and now, in the heat of high summer, that’s the last thing anyone wants.

Synopsis:  Mare is a red. She lives in the Stilts and her family is basically poor. She steals from others to provide for her family before she is old enough to be forced into the war with her three older brothers.

After an encounter with a stranger, she finds herself a slave to the palace. She quickly finds out that the stranger she met the night before is the Silver Prince. That same day she finds that she has powers like the Silvers, but her blood is still red. Because her powers have been displayed among great names of the Silver world, the queen makes up a story that Mare is a long lost daughter of a dead war hero.

Mare has saved her brothers from war, along with her best friend. But it all comes at a price. Now Mare must pretend to be a Silver and her life depends on her acting skills.

Review: My first thought when I finished this book was OMG! Seriously, there are things that hit you in this book that you never see coming. Don’t worry, I won’t ruin it for you, but I will tell you to be ready for several twist in the story. Just when you think you know what is going on…you realize you had no idea. This was an amazing story and I have high hopes for this author. I just wish that the next book was coming out soon.

From the beginning you are taken by this story. You want to know more. You want to know what is going to happen to Mare, how is she going to get out of her predicament. I was angry at the way Reds were treated and how Silvers sat around like nothing bad ever happened in the world. Then, I felt sorry for the Silvers because you soon find out that it’s not as carefree in their world as you thought.

And then…there is Cal. The wonderful, beautiful, kind, Silver Prince. Who doesn’t love a prince?

 Conclusion:

If you have this sitting on your bookself right now…pick it up and read it. Waste no more time, wait no longer, get that book and start reading it tonight. You will love every second of it, even the parts that make you so mad you can see straight. Warning: do not read this in public because you might squeal a few times! Believe me, I had to contain myself while sitting on the beach…
