Let’s Travel Back In Time

The other day I came across an article on Pinterest about podcast that are good for writers to listen too. I have become that weird person that doesn’t like to listen to the radio when I drive. Actually, the only time I like to listen to music is when I am writing, and most of the time that is some kind of electronica music that has no words.

Since I have an iPhone and there is a wonderful app for podcast, I looked up a few of these podcast to see if I would like them. (You can find the article HERE) I got as far as finding two of them, following them, and listening to maybe 5 minutes of one of the episodes. It wasn’t that I got bored, I just saw something that I found a little more interesting.

See, a few years back I started following the “Welcome to Night Vale” podcast. I didn’t get in too far before I found it a little boring and forgot about it. While looking for these podcast for writers I found a podcast called “We’re Alive.” It’s a zombie survival story by Wayland Productions.

I started listening to it, thinking it was going to be like listening to a book on audible. I was wrong, not completely wrong, just a little wrong. This is like a book on audible, but with sound effects!

You remember seeing movies about the old days, where people would sit in front of their radios and listen to shows? That is what this is like. Maybe you already know about this and I am just a little slow to the game. Or maybe this is a secret that was lost along the years that people are just now starting to find again. It’s great!

It’s like reading and watching a show all at the same time, but using more brain power in the process. Does that even make sense?

I will get around to listening to the other podcast for writers. I want to know all the tips and info that I can find, to make my own writing better. And it would be great to listen to them while I am doing my crafts.

Do you listen to podcast? Are there any you would suggest?

I listen to instrumental and classical music when I write. I can’t listen to anything that talks because then I can’t listen to myself think. I have a hard time tuning things out.

I don’t have a hard time listening to music with words while writing, I hardly pay attention to the words in the first place. But any talking while writing is out of the question though. I can’t even have the TV on for noise while writing.

I can’t have talking at all. I don’t know why, but my ears always try to listen to the talking not matter what it is, how far away it is, or if it even has anything to do with me.

LOL That is why I have to have something playing in my ears when I am writing. I have to leave my door open because of my puppy so I have to drown out the sound of the rest of the family. Life is hard as a writer. lol
