Yesterday was my first day back to work. I have been unemployed since February. The job I was let go from lasted 2 and a half years. It was 2 and a half years of sitting in front of a computer, bored out of my mind. I went to work and sat for 8 hours. While unemployed I didn’t do much either. I would take my puppy out to play for a little bit, but come back in and lay down.
I had become lazy in the past three years. And now my body is feeling the consequences of those actions.
Yesterday was my first day back to work. I only had to work 4 hours, and the entire time I was on my feet. 4 hours straight standing. By the end of my shift my back hurt, but that was really all. That was until I sat down. My legs were screaming right along with my feet and back. I ignored it. It wasn’t that bad actually. Just a bit annoying. The funny thing was that my neck didn’t bother me a bit. Strange right?
I went to lunch with my parents after work. I didn’t eat as much as I usually would. I don’t know if it’s because I was tired or because I had spent all day around food. I did, however, down a ton of water.
After lunch, I came home and crashed. I took about an hour nap. It was almost involuntary. I sat down and I was about gone then.
My friend, brother, and myself went to the gym later on yesterday and worked out for an hour. I was extremely proud of myself for still working out after a day at work. Not that my day at work was a big deal…but for someone who has been sitting on her butt for 3 years, it was kind of a big thing.
This morning I woke up stiff as ever. My arms are sore, my right one more so than the left. And my ankles are a little sore too. Usually when I am sore from working out I will take the next day off and rest. No such luck for me today, I have to go back to work for another 4 hour shift. I can already feel it wearing on my body.
I’m not complaining, I’m excited. My first day at work was a blast. I mean, when you go in and are using the slicer 10 minutes after starting your first day, it’s going to be awesome! My least favorite part about my job is the pay, but it’s just something I gotta live with for now.
